Martin Moore was born to lone parent Lydia Moore on December 30, 1977, in Saginaw, Michigan.
His older sister’s name is Tamara, and she is 3.5 years his senior. Soon after, Martin’s family relocated to Dallas’s Oak Cliff area, where his mother could split her time between two jobs. After that, Martin’s sister often took care of him while their mom was at work.
Martin transferred between three different high schools in four years, but he found solace in sports.
He played football, baseball, and basketball.
Many Division I schools took notice of his basketball skills during high school, but after his junior year, when they saw him play in an AAU tournament, the University of Cincinnati and their assistant coach John Loyer recruited him the most aggressively.
In 2009, he was inducted into the Bryan Adams High School Hall of Fame in Dallas, where he had previously graduated in 1996.

College career
Martin attended the University of Cincinnati, where he played college basketball for head coach Bob Huggins’ Cincinnati Bearcats team. At one point during his first year of college, he took a bus back to Dallas because he was so homesick.
His mother and older sister, who were also in college at the time but also working full-time jobs, encouraged him to go back and finish his degree.
As a junior, Martin led Cincinnati to a 27-6 record and was named to the second team of All-Conference USA. The following summer, he led the United States to a gold medal at the World University Games, where he also led the team in scoring and rebounding.
Martin led the Bearcats to a 12 week #1 ranking as a senior in 1999-2000, when he averaged 18.9 points, 9.7 rebounds, and 3.5 blocks per game.
His 28 points, 13 boards, and 10 blocks against Memphis that year were his second career triple-double (his first was 24/23/10 against DePaul in 1997).
Martin was named the National Player of the Year by nearly every major organization and his team finished the season ranked first in the country.
When Martin broke his leg just three minutes into the Bearcats’ Conference USA Tournament opener, his season was over and he would not play in the NCAA Tournament.

Both Martin’s career blocked shot total (292), and his career field goal percentage (.585), are Bearcats records (.586). On April 25, 2000, his number four jersey was officially retired by the Cincinnati Reds.

Professional Career
In 2000, the New Jersey Mets used the first pick in the draft to draft Kenyon into the NBA. He played for the Mets through the 2003–2004 season before being dealt to the Nuggets.
During his time with the Mets, he made NBA All-Rookie First Team and was runner-up to Mike Miller for NBA Rookie of the Year.
After a successful rookie year with the Nuggets, averaging 15.5 points and 7.3 rebounds per game, Kenyon was offered a new contract, significantly increasing his income. His knee problems began the following year, and he hasn’t been the same player since.
He never lived up to his potential with the Mets or in his first year with the Nuggets.
Therefore, after his contract with the Nuggets expired in 2011, he signed a contract with the Chinese basketball team, Xinjiang Flying Tigers, but only lasted six months there, as he was released early from the club.
However, he became one of the highest-paid players in the history of the CBA league, which undoubtedly boosted his net worth significantly.
After that, he signed a two-year, $2 million contract with the Los Angeles Clippers and returned to the NBA, where he played in 48 games while averaging 5.2 points per contest.
