Greg Anthony was born in New York City on November 15, 1967. He was raised in Greenburgh, New York, where he attended Our Lady of Victory School and Archbishop Stepinac High School.
He played college basketball for the University of Nevada, Las Vegas (UNLV), where he was a member of the 1990 NCAA national championship team. He was named to the All-American Second Team by the Associated Press in 1991.
The New York Knicks selected him in the first round of the 1991 NBA draft with the 12th overall pick. He played for the Knicks for six seasons before being traded to the Vancouver Grizzlies in 1997.
NBA career
He was drafted in the first round of the 1991 NBA Draft by the New York Knicks. He played for the Knicks for seven seasons and was a 1994 NBA Finals team member. He then played for the Vancouver Grizzlies, Seattle SuperSonics, Chicago Bulls, Portland Trail Blazers, and Milwaukee Bucks. He last played in the NBA in 2002.
Since retiring from the NBA, he has worked as a television analyst for ESPN and NBA TV. He also works as a commentator for the New York Knicks radio broadcasts.

He began his broadcasting career as an analyst for ESPN in 2002. He joined Turner Sports in 2006 as a studio analyst for NBA games on TNT. In 2014, he became the lead game analyst for CBS Sports’ college basketball coverage, teaming with play-by-play announcers Kevin Harlan and Ian Eagle.

He is married to Crystal McCrary Anthony, an attorney and author. They have three children together. In 2020, Anthony was arrested and charged with sexual assault in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
Former NBA star Anthony was arrested on January 2, 2015, and charged with soliciting a prostitute in Washington, D.C. He was released on a $1,000 bond and ordered to stay away from the arrested woman.
