Design

In 8.3 x 2.9 x 2.5 inches, the Style-S is a bit larger than the 6.5 x 2.6 x 2.1-inch Fugoo Mode (a fantastic bargain at the present cost of $90) but nowhere near as big as the 11.33 x 4.52 x 3.81-inch Fugoo Style XL.

The Style-S shares this Style lineup’s aesthetics: tan mesh cloth encloses the motorists, while black vinyl seals the ends and bottom. It lacks an assortment of colors. The Design provides, however.

On top, you’ll find only three buttons: + – so. As anticipated, + increases the quantity and reduces it. The O button may play and pause a track and participate in Siri or even Google Assistant. You may use combinations for added purposes, such as pressing + and O, to progress to the next tune.

The ideal side features the ability and Bluetooth pairing switches, in addition to an LED indicator for power status. Below a flap over the left, you will locate the micro USB port to charge the battery and a 3.5-millimeter auxiliary input to get a wired link.

Performance

We had been blown away by the audio quality of this first Fugoo Bluetooth speaker Design, but a great deal has changed in the past few years, and also the Style-S reveals its age in the audio section.

Though the Style-S sounds excellent and has loud, as a result of the 20 watts of electricity, it lacks bass response compared to its competitors.

Performance (3)

The fantastic thing is the Fugoo Style-S waterproof speaker provides an excellent soundstage, which allows you to pinpoint where tools are coming from.

Considering that the Style-S does not offer you 360-degree sound, its directional speakers assist in soundstage representation, which can be dropped with 360-degree speakers such as the UE Wonderboom.

Intriguingly, Fugoo decided to eliminate this 360-degree noise that people liked so far from the Fugoo Style, but it is not an entire deal-breaker.

Speaking of this Wonderboom, we discovered it provided more bass response but less resolution than Fugoo Style-S.

The Style-S is much better suited to vocal music and provides more lively sounding highs than the Wonderboom. However, we could not help but enjoy the UE’s additional bass response for dance and electronic music.

Still, another speaker worth considering is your JBL Charge 3, which delivers a number of the most peculiar and most effective bass responses in the speaker.

While the UE provided a satisfying balance of bass, the JBL Charge 3 provides much more bass, producing the illusion that the Charge 3 is a much larger speaker than it truly is.

The Charge 3 will even allow you to control your mobile phone in a pinch, something the Fugoo Style-S nor the UE Wonderboom could perform.

Another subject of functionality that underwhelmed us was its battery life. The Fugoo Style can last up to 40 hours; the Fugoo Style-S waterproof Bluetooth speaker provides a middle-of-the-road 15 hours.

It is somewhat strange that the battery life was cut so much compared to the Design, but its 20-watt power evaluation could have something to do with it.

Connectivity

So far as the connection goes, I had a few, if any, difficulties with playback. Fugoo asserts a variety of 100 ft, and that I can not dispute that.

It performed pretty much flawlessly anywhere in my flat and just started to stutter once I was especially testing the scope.

There was just one time when the speaker has been approximately 10 feet away from me, along with the audio genre, to get a split second. Still, it has not happened because no matter how often I attempt to recreate the conditions; therefore, I must conclude it was a fluke.

Playback controls also work nicely enough, with the plus and minus indicator controlling volume and the middle button behaving as a multifunction button.

It pauses and performs audio, ends and answers phone calls, and if you hold it down, you can get your phone’s voice helper.

You might even jump between tracks by pressing the multifunction button, too, as among the volume switches, depending on whether you would like to jump to another song or skip backward.

Another brand new attribute Fugoo threw in is syncing two Style-S speakers to a single source device. You may opt to double the audio or turn them into right and left channels for stereo.

Battery Life

Fugoo asserts that the Style-S battery can endure up to 15 hours, and that’s regrettably less compared to 40 hours of their former Style speaker.

Much more of a step backward is that in my testing, I could not reach 15 hours of playback. Within my runs, I have about 13 hours of constant playback, about 70% quantity.

Sound Quality

Audio quality over Bluetooth has come a long way as the first Fugoo Style, and this speaker keeps up with all the changes sounding just like most other speakers at the sub-$200 price range.

The problem is it does not transcend them in any meaningful manner. The low end is equally as powerful as something such as the Flip 4 but just as blank.

For another $50, I had been expecting a bit more gloss on the bass notes of something such as There is Something Special from Pharrell.

They are powerful but almost a small hollow occasionally, and it distorts at high volumes throughout the song Powerful Than Me by Amy Winehouse.

On the bright side, mids are super clean. I was nearly able to comprehend precisely what Post Malone was saying from the song Congratulations. Almost. His vocals appear only to be correctly positioned over the insanity of these 808 hits throughout the tune.

Similarly, I did not have any complaints with all the high end the majority of the time. The finger slides at the intro of Just The Two Of Us by Cyrille Aimee keep their emotion and detail without ever getting squeakily harsh.

Conclusion

You won’t find a speaker that seems better or has more features than the Fugoo Style-S speaker for your cash. While just marginally more significant than the Style, the Style-S has bass and a bigger sound. It seems nearly like the far more expensive UE Boom 2. And it is as hard as any wireless speaker you will find.

The battery life is the most significant disadvantage to the version; it provides less playtime than JBL Charge 3 and much less than the initial Style.

But if you do not require extended playtime before recharging, the Style-S is just one of the most effective outside speakers you can purchase.
