Measuring 9.2 from 5.7 by 7.7 inches (HWD) each, the R1280T powered monitor speakers comprise wood veneer paneling on both sides along with a matte metallic end up top.

The grilles are a grey fabric with the Edifier emblem in the base, and they’re removable. Under the grille, every speaker packs a 4-inch woofer, a 13mm silk dome tweeter, and a port to move air and permit the drivers to do better.

The ideal speaker is the sole power among the duo’s electricity to feed the left unit using a removable cable (included). The ideal speaker also has an IR detector to easily remote control: just three buttonsMute, Volume Up, and Volume Down.

The links on the ideal speaker’s rear panel comprise dual RCA inputs. One is labeled PC, along with also an added 3.5mm-to-RCA cable works with PCs and portable devices.

Another is labeled AUX, along with another RCA-to-RCA cable included, which may be utilized with standard stereo equipment or using a TV with RCA outputs.

The rear panel can also be where the power switch and the hardwired power cable are all found. There’s no wireless connectivity of any sort, which means that you can stream audio through Bluetooth from your telephone or other apparatus.

R1280T inlineAlso situated on the ideal speaker right side panel is a shining area housing three knobs. The bottom knob would be for the volume, the center for bass, and the best for treble.

The bass and treble knobs have detents for the midpoint of the dial; that’s the impartial setting. Annoyingly, the volume control does not have any visual mark aside from a plus and minus sign, which means that you can not glance at it and understand what level that the system is switched to.

Nor is there a stopping point on the dial functions complete revolutions, and that means you can not just turn it all of the ways left and be aware that the quantity is in its smallest setting.  A power LED is located beneath these dials.

Installation Process And Controls

The speakers’ set consists of a single speaker, using an inner amp to power both speakers and a single passive speaker. You join them together via regular stereo speaker cables, so the installation is straightforward.

The entire package is rounded out with a tiny remote with just three buttons: volume controllers (down and up ) and a mute On/Off toggle.

On the flip side, there are a volume knob and 2 EQ knobs for treble and bass. These knobs work and feel excellent, but we would have enjoyed a mid control or perhaps an RCA input selector.

One of the chief drawbacks of the particular pair of speakers is how limited they’re from a connectivity perspective. Edifier sells a couple of distinct units, and a number offer Bluetooth compatibility, audio controllers, and much more.

The R1280T doesn’t contain Bluetooth connectivity, which is a massive difference in their performance. There are just two stereo RCA inputs on the back.

Audio Quality

The high frequencies are in which the R1280T excels. These bookshelf speakers produce well-detailed highs using a flexible quantity.

The treble on the top end has a thinner personality, but it is still well-balanced and will retain texture and prevent the wood stand from happening.

Even though these speakers’ bass isn’t the tightest, they offer you a well-balanced bass response using a slower decay.

It is not that the punchiest of bass answers, but that is expected considering the magnitude of these cabinets, and it is still smooth and room-filling as you would expect from a bookshelf speaker.

Mids are also a power of Edifier’s R1280T bookshelf speaker since they may produce a smooth, well-balanced reaction over the midrange frequencies such as well-reproduced vocals and acoustic music makes these speakers excellent for jazz, indie, and similar genres.

Seeing Films

The R1280T bookshelf speakers can reproduce vocals romantically and smoothly, meaning you could enjoy all your films and TV shows without fretting about the lack of audio effects.

Durability and Build Quality

There is not much info in Edifier’s product descriptions on precisely what these speakers are manufactured out of.

Still, our very best guess is that a large part of the construction consists of a molded plastic or polycarbonate enclosure, with two timber slats behaving as paneling on either side of every speaker.

Durability and Build Quality

Each principal woofer is constructed of the typical cloth/felt-type substance, and the tweeters use the ordinary silk. Both these material options are by our expectations for a speaker of the course.

In use, these speakers feel large. The wood-paneled sides give it a feel, while the vinyl enclosures are weighty and thick.

This weightiness is a small double-edged sword as while it will assure strength; it gets the speakers hefty. We recommend only placing them on sturdy shelves, maybe not modest corner bookshelves.

At right about $100, we are delighted to see exactly how much value you escape this R1280T. Most speakers in the price point sit at the entry-level class, providing you with considerably smaller drivers, a much more affordable to build, and finally, a sub-par listening experience.

These offer high-class audio for a low price. You sacrifice a little on the new name side (no more Sonos or even Bose here), and you are not getting contemporary features like Bluetooth, varied inputs, or changeable EQ controls. However, to get speakers with adequate audio quality at $100, you need to cut some corners.

For $100, the R1280T‘s sound quality is remarkable. Budget-friendly PC speakers rarely sound this great and provide this much power. If you have got a bit more cash to invest in, your choices only get better.

For the cost, the R1280T are a few of the more significant wired PC speakers we have tested in recent memory and quickly make our Editors’ Choice award.
